Terrible. I hate these stories.

[–]Vanriel 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It says that they hope the film resonates with the daughters and sons who want their fathers in their life's.

That's all well and good, but the what I hope is it resonates with judges who do horrible stuff like this.

It probably won't, but I can hope.

Don't date single mothers !1!!

Remember, mothers are free to give fathers all the access they want.

They look at you the same way they look at him, date better women.

what if the father died? what if the father left her? what if the father raped her? what if the father is in prison? endless possibilities… single parents are incredibly strong.

what if the father died?

This might be the only reasonable circumstance, IF the relationship was sound and he died of natural causes, and wasn't driven to suicide because she ripped the children away from him. Still a bigger risk because people don't always heal from that sort of thing before getting back out there. Of course, there's the possibility that he was mentally ill, in which case, she makes bad life choices.

what if the father left her?

Then she definitely either a) makes poor life choices and is prone to making them, or b) she made things so awful that he had no real choice. I think I'll pass.

what if the father raped her?

Then she probably has severe PTSD, and believe me that's not a fight you're going to win anytime soon. She might even hate men for it, have trust issues, and hypersexuality which seems great at first until you realize it's just a coping mechanism related to personal control. And she kept the child anyway? Raising a kid that's going to ask questions and then find out they're a rape baby and have to deal with that? And the kid is going to wonder the whole time up to that point why they don't have a dad?Idk, seems pretty iffy.

what if the father is in prison?

Then he's a dumbass, and she is still a) a pro at making bad life decisions.

endless possibilities… single parents are incredibly strong.

If they were so incredibly strong, then why are the stats for kids raised by single moms so incredibly terrible? You might find a decent single mother, but the odds are definitely not in your favor.

Also, single moms tend to be completely and utterly devoted to their children, and not to any serious relationship. Which means that eventually, she is going to put the kid's wants (note, not needs, wants) above the needs of your relationship, which is simply a recipe for failure. Anyone who doesn't put their partner first and foremost in a relationship is going to have a bad time when kids are involved.

So, really, this is good advice, and any justification you have isn't going to fly when shit hits the fan. This thinking in this day and age is liable to get you messed up mentally and emotionally. It is simply not worth it.

driven to suicide because she ripped the children away from him

i never said that shit and it’s obviously not what i meant.

there’s the possibility that he was mentally ill

mentally ill people can be extremely successful in life like any other person, sometimes they can crack under pressure but that’s just a risk to be taken. this isn’t nazi germany, liking someone a little different reflects nothing on your personal choices.

a) makes poor life choices and is prone to making them, or b) she made things so awful that he had no real choice

why do you immediately blame someone else’s actions on the mother? it’s pretty ignorant and gross. ending up with someone who you realize isn’t who you thought they were isn’t a poor life choice, you’ve been manipulated at THEIR fault..

she might even hate men for it, have trust issues, and hyper sexuality, which seems great at first until you realize it’s just a coping mechanism related to personal control.

first of all.. what seems great at first? are you talking about a hyper sexual woman? there is nothing glamorizing about going something so traumatic you live the rest of your life in fear

and she kept the child anyway?

and that’s completely ok, some women don’t want to have an abortion and that’s 100% their choice. as long as you are mentally stable and able to provide care to your child, you should be able to keep them. having a baby that came from a rape is way more powerful than you think. not only is there the terrifying possibility that they may look or worse, behave, like your attacker but it will also remind you of what happened the rest of your life. and yet you still chose to love your baby unconditionally because that’s what a mother who wants to keep her baby does. being a baby conceived from rape cannot be easy, but it’s not hopeless. with therapy they can learn they’re not a burden, a monster, etc… there’s always the option of being completely open to the kid and telling them (in appropriate detail) what happened, that way they don’t need to ask questions and aren’t distraught when they find out what was kept from them.

and she is still a) a pro at making bad life decisions

so the fathers illegal actions are the mothers fault? you can’t always predict when someone’s going to do something bad. nevermind the possibility he’s in there on small drug related charges like marijuana shit, or awaiting trial.

why are the stats for kids raised by single moms so incredibly terrible?

maybe because they aren’t provided childcare they need for their kid while at work, they can’t afford top of the line products, they can’t splurge on holidays and birthdays, etc… that’s kind of like asking why people die so young in russia.

single moms tend to be completely and utterly devoted to their children

i sure hope they are, i don’t want to date someone who prioritizes me over their child, that literally depends on them. if you put your partner before your child, it’s irresponsible and a recipe for neglect

this thinking in this day and age is liable to get you messed up mentally and emotionally.

if you’re not a little bit messed up in this world, there’s something wrong with you. we shouldn’t be making choices because they’re easy and only appease us, we should be making choices because they’re the right thing to do. i don’t know what woman hurt you and i hope you’re ok but it’s not ok to shit on everyone else for no good reason, i hope you’re getting help

It's a heartbreaking reality.

No sane man would marry and have children in western countries nowadays.

If you really want to have children: - Hire a surrogate or - sign a custody and parental schedule agreement prior to having a child. Then have a child out of wedlock.

Avoid marriage and custody default laws. Invest in a lawyer and prepare. This will cost much less, protect access to your child and save you from family courts heartbreak.

Heck I feel you brother. I been waiting 5 months to battle an ex parte order that took away my summer with my daughters. It's all bullshit.
