I was inspired by another comment on here about how lots of men in their 30s expect a fit partner while not even being fit themselves. I have found the same sentiment in my own social circle. Women accepting lower fitness levels if the guy is "nice" or has a top notch career. The bar is too low. Guys with nice faces and good careers, but weak arms and pot bellies from a sedentary lifestyle, have a fitness standard for women they would commit to that is almost model level.

❤️ Well I have fitness standards too ❤️

Muh BiOloGy drives me to be attracted to strong arms, hands, and that V shaped upper body. I need this in a partner to feel safe and protected. Part of this is physical attraction but there is also a practical reason. Heath and life expectancy. Men already have shorter lifespans. We don't need a "dad bod" to accelerate that any further. A sedentary lifestyle is a slow killer. I understand that if you or your partner is going through a stressful time that it can make it difficult to find time to stay in shape and I think couples should be supportive of each other during those times, but when it comes to dating, I think too many women are way too accepting of men letting themselves go physically, while those same men will turn around and shame women of the same fitness level (possibly higher 🙃) as them all day long. Men apply fitness standards shamelessly, so why can't we do the same? I feel like I've been socialized to not care so much about looks, but the truth is that it is actually really important to me 😆
