Similar criminal sentencing gaps are seen in the US, where men receive 63% longer sentences than women (which is larger than the sentencing gaps between white and black people):

This shows that this isn't an isolated problem or bias from a few judges, but a more widespread systematic one present in the legal system and on par with if not exceeding the prevalence or racial bias in criminal sentencing.
