They need to be explicitly directed to girls and women as well as boys and men" because "gender-neutral terms are perceived by program recipients as referring to male perpetration" (this one is taken from his paper, see below) - Never spank a child under any circumstance (professor Straus calls spanking "the cradle of violence" and notes that even murders reflect that in the United States which has now been true for almost 50 years of data 70% of murders are carried out as part of an interpersonal conflict to correct the misbehavior of the person murdered)
