I'm having a difficult time revisiting movies / tv of the past. I have a nephew had an interest in airplanes. I found torrent of tailspin online and played a few episodes while visiting. I was taken back seeing the cartoon in a new light. A bumbling "everything is fine" idiot who can't keep his company together, and a bossy woman who is there to fix it all while berating the male every chance she gets. Quick to anger and place blame. Wow how subtle at that age.

I noticed it in a movie recently as well. Anchor Man was a hilarious movie (or so I thought) in 2003. I recently watched it and was disgusted at not only how men were potrayed and the woman just did what she wanted, but how she fell for him despite being a bumbling beta. If he were in the position he held, he certainly wouldn't be an insecure hopeless idiot. Logic dictates that he'd be top of his game. Lastly, they couldn't control themselves around one woman, yet they had tons of them working in the office that they didn't go nuts over. I never finished rewatching the movie.

Lastly I saw "Spies Like Us" for the first time in 20 years, and it seemed like yet another Beta idiot guy getting shit he doesn't deserve while showing the world he can be a slacker loser type movie. I was surprised to see something so far back in time. Perhaps it's been that way for a long time.

I've never had an issue with the "beta guy grows up and finds him self and in the process gets the girl" type movie of a boy growing into a man, but some of these are about as pathetic as a woman's dream to have it all without any of the work. Disgusting on both angles. How much of Hollywood is full of this?

I watched a Red Hot Chilly Peppers music video (directed by a woman), that had them rolling on the floor acting feminine while the girls were riding skateboards and acting like guys. Modern culture seems hell bent on making guys "harmless" it seems. The pokeymon craze is beyond disgusting for me. I understand it's popular, but even not being much of an Alpha kid, I still had GI joes, and had action heroes that I looked up to. I never found pokeymon to be anything more than a young kids game. I wanted to be Bruce Willis, not Chevy Chase. I guess this turned into more of a rant. I'm not sure what gives. It seems to be harder to find male culture that isn't either over the top stupid, or completely bereft of manliness.
