Hey guys,
I’ve been in monk mode for around 2 weeks now, left my summer job (School starts September 1st), read through the whole RP Handbook, No More Mr. Nice Guy, and I’m nearly done with the Rational Male. Today, I’d like to share an experience with you and get some feedback on how I reacted.
TL:DR
- My sister invited her bf to stay home for a couple of days knowing that she had to go to work anyway;
- She hoped that the white-knight in me would awake upon asking me to substitute for her;
- Female imperative obliged, my mother even bet for my sister (when my mother has nothing to do with this and shouldn’t be offering me money like that for my sister; my sister should’ve offered money, not my mother);
- Because I refused to sacrifice my precious monk time to allow her to spend time with her bf, she now resents me and labels me as whatever mentioned above.
Application of theory in reality
My sister could not conceive that I refuse to substitute for her because MEN ARE MEANT TO SACRIFICE THEMSELVES FOR HER. This is the kind of feminist social convention we live in nowadays.
“Everything a man experiences, every social conditioning he receives from the earliest age, every accepted social norm and every expectation of him to qualify as the definition of a mature adult Man in contemporary society is designed to serve a female imperative. Moralist wallow in it, absolutists and defeated white knights existentially depend upon it, and even the better part of relativists still (often unwittingly) feed and serve the feminine purpose.” The Rational Male – Rollo Tomassi
Question
“Was treating my SISTER like a WOMAN the right thing to do?" I mean, she’s family, therefore not as disposable as any other woman, and I think having a good relationship with my family is relevant. Does that question stink Blue Pill? I think so. Am I misinterpreting the information contained in these books? Maybe.
IN DETAIL
Two days ago @home during supper:
My sister asks me if I could substitute for her at work (She took my place at the summer job, where I was doing a night shift). I answer negatively, she insists with puppy eyes, and I still decline. My mother takes her side and offers money so that I go back to my previous job (which I left for a reason). After my sister kep insisting, saying that I had no reason to refuse, so I remained silent and ignore her attempts at convincing me.
Yesterday I’m @The Cottage, She’s @Home
Around 12:00PM, my father meets me in person at the cottage, and ask me why I don’t want to substitute for her at work. I explain, and then case closed. He tells me to check my cellphone and leaves.
SMS from 12:30PM to 4:45PM
- Sister – Hey youuuuuuuuuu
- Sister – Could you substitute for me tonight? Pwetty please?
- Me – Nah.
- Sister – Oh come on! :( you need money before for college, don’t you?
- Sister – I’m only asking for one evening, not all week long :S
- Sister – It’s the only opportunity for me and my bf to enjoy the cottage, we couldn’t go this weekend due to the bad temperature..!
- Sister – BF says he’s gonna cry all night long if I go to work
- Sister – Whatever, thanks anyways
- Sister – It’s because it was the only chance I had to spend time with my bf at the cottage, it was very important for me
- Sister – Sure you can’t substitute for me only for tonight? :S
Phone Calls
- Sister – 2:55PM, 3:07, 3:11, 3:12 x2, 4:00 x2, 4:01 x2, 4:02 x2, 4:03, 4:04, 4:05 x2, 4:06
- Home – 2:57, 2:58, 3:02, 3:04, 3:57, 4:47
- Mother – 3:17, 3:27, 3:58, 4:06
At evening, my parents and I had supper at the cottage, and nothing was ever mentioned about the argument between me and my sister. Fortunately for her, she succeeded to get the ok to leave work earlier, so she arrived around 8:30PM with her BF, we played cards, chatted and everything was perfect until…
Today.
She woke up when I was preparing my breakfast with a super grumpy look. I greet her, she answers grumpily, and she goes outdoor with a mug of coffee. I suspected either she had an argument with her bf or she was still resenting me for not substituting for her. I went at the dining table, next beside the couch she was sat on and started to eat breakfast.
After 5 minutes of silence:
- Sister – Anything to say about yesterday?
- Me – Nah Looked her and shrugged; I mean, she got to leave work earlier, can’t believe she’s still mad at me
- Sister – Did you receive my texts?
- Me – Yep.
- Sister – Why didn’t you answer?
- Me – When I came back from kayaking, I saw like 25 calls and couple of texts, then I went back outside.
- Sister – It really does not affect you that I could not spend the only evening I had with my bf at the cottage?!
- Me - Looked at her and shrugged
Aaaaannnndddd there goes the storm. She called me outright egoistic, heartless asshole who is not even able to help when needed (although I provided her transportation to work twice last week and fetched her at the train station 1h30 away from home 2 weeks ago FREE OF CHARGE), and then complained about how the birthday presents I gave her for the past 3 years totally sucked while the ones she gave me were thoughtful and she cared about me and stuff. After ignoring these attempts to destabilize me and giving her examples where I definitely helped her, she screamed “I CAN’T EVEN!!!”, fetched the bf (who was upstairs the whole time) and left with “I CAN’T SPEND MORE TIME WITH YOU AROUND!”
Now, I’m left somewhat guilty and unsure that I was right in denying my sister's call for help.
Thanks for your feedback and keep on creating opportunities for learning!
