I always see discussions about women complaining about being called a 'girl' in their 20's/30's, but no one discusses how 13-14 year old boys start getting called 'men'. There comes a time growing up, where you realize society doesn't see you as a boy anymore, but instead, a potentially threatening man. A potential murderer, a potential rapist, just because of your gender. Women never experience the loss of childhood phase, because society will always see them as innocent, and someone who deserves protection along with children (think 'women and children first' from Titanic). Yet a man, he's no longer seen as someone who matters. Growing up and realizing you have to act different now because people see you differently changes you forever. You have to remember to cross the street when walking behind a woman. You realize no one will help you if your car breaks down. You have to remember that you crying or having a breakdown in public is seen as threatening. All these add up to the image of the 'emotionless man' that we all have to display, and it's sad that society never discusses this.
