Unattractive men, would you be okay with being with a woman who loves you to pieces, but isn't extremely physically attracted to you?

More context into what brought this question to mind below, but you can just respond to the title if you don't feel like reading.

I've got a really close friend who's dating a guy who definitely isn't the most attractive. He's tall, so he's got that going for him. But he's quite overweight and his face isn't anything special. He's not particularly fashionable and he's been depressed for as long as I've known him (I was friends with him long before him and my friend started dating or even met).

All that aside, he's extremely intelligent and is very funny. He's really popular among our friend group (which is mostly guys) and he's kind of got an aura that demands respect. I personally find him to be a great friend and love having deep discussions with him.

Eventually he started dating my friend. She absolutely adores him and everytime I hang out with her she's always expressing how much she loves him. They've been dating for over 3 years now, but a constant point of conflict in their relationship is that he doesn't feel good enough for her and he begins to self-sabatoge.

I know most of his depression and self-worth issues stem from his physical appearance. My friend loves him of course, but it's not like she miraculously views him as 10/10 simply because she's in love. He's simply not that good looking. She of course is still attracted to him and it's not like she tells him that other men are hotter than him, but he's not an idiot and he knows how physical attraction works. He can't seem to come to terms with this though, and is constantly creating issues out of nothing because of his insecurities.

My question for other unnattractive men is this. Do you think there's any hope for guys in situations like his to actually be happy in their relationship whilst knowing that their partner probably finds other men more physically attractive than themselves?
