Women at work never used to flirt with me until I was married and wearing a wedding ring.

My theory is that half of them did it because "he's safe (i.e. -married), so it won't go any further" and the other half were attracted to "what they can't have".

So yeah, it rings true even if the story is made up.

Absolutely true. Put just a little bit of perfume on a handkerchief and put it in your pocket. Women can smell another woman on you (even if the scent is too faint to consciously notice) and they will flock to you. I worked at this one place for about a year and was largely ignored for that entire time. Maybe 3 people a week would acknowledge my existence. I went out to lunch with my sister one day and after returning to work, 10 women approached me that day. Even if a woman doesn't want you, they want to compete with another woman. It's strange. Almost everything women complain about men doing, they themselves are guilty of.

I’ve never done this, but I have no doubt it works. Women have a strong urge to compete with each other, which often seem to trump their desire for actual relationship and intimacy with a man. That’s a fact. There are many women who want real relationships, but a shockingly large percentage just want the drama of having a fling with a guy they don’t think will fully commit. I think it seems like they are getting away with something to them, which is really ridiculous from my perspective, because it would work 10,000 times better if they just were honest and communicated their desire to just fuck. I don’t know any man who would be shocked or say no to that…provided he was interested in the woman at all. I won’t say I’ve said yes to every instance where a woman said she wanted me, but mostly I would say that if an attractive woman asked if I could just be her bedroom partner for the night, it would actually be a proposition that would be hard to turn down. The honesty factor counts for a lot to me.

I’ve not seen women react this way to wedding rings, but I HAVE seen women hit on me in the most overt and obvious ways while I’ve been in public with a girlfriend. It was unreal in some instances. I’m not a cheater, in any way, but I have to say it was absolutely bizarre the extent to which I’ve had women hit on me right in front of my girlfriend, in ways none has EVER done to me alone. I admit it made me wish I was single in a few cases…That particular girlfriend turned out to be a genuine psychopath (like certified by a psychologist, actual psychopath), and the girls who were hitting on me in front of her were probably many times better girlfriend material. Nonetheless, it’s baffling to me why they would be so incredibly rude…It had to be 100% obvious they were doing this in front of a girl I was dating. I had one girl who was a waitress start giving me a backrub as she got my order at the table (I’m not kidding!!!). The she turned to my girlfriend and said, “Oh sorry, am I cockblocking you?” Another girl asked me for my number and then decided to give me hers while I stood kind of dumbfounded and my girlfriend looked on in horror. Fortunately she could tell I wasn’t doing ANYTHING to encourage that behavior, but it was absolutely weird…and stood out in my experience of dating as an experienced of female competition that went well beyond any possible example of women coming onto me in general.

Therefore, I have no doubt the wedding ring thing works. There is some absolutely insane amount of gaming women do with each other that has virtually nothing to do with men. I think a better way to do this would be to have a female friend pose as your girlfriend, just to help you pick up chicks that just want to fuck.
