I’d say a solid majority of the male sex symbols and superstars seem to not only date down in terms of looks, but also date and marry women 5-10 years their senior. I find this rather puzzling, considering that they potentially have access to the hottest women in the world.

You can say “love is blind,” they are artists with alternative personalities and different values, etc but at the end of the day Hollywood is the most superficial place on earth, and looks are the number one criterion men use in mate selection. This is why I find it strange to see a guy like Ryan Gosling, who is basically a 10 aesthetically, shacked up with a woman like Eva Mendes.

Even more puzzling is the age gap I frequently see, with these young, world famous heart throbs dating and marrying women not only less attractive than them but also significantly older. The strange part about this is I rarely see it in everyday couples. Ryan Gosling, Ashton Kutcher, Ben Affleck, Harry Styles, Nick Jonas, Dwayne Wade, Hugh Jackman, Jason Momoa, and Prince Harry just to name a few are all highly desirable ultra famous male sex symbols dating women past their prime. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is married to a woman 24 years older than him!!!

The flip side to this is when the dynamic is shifted and the young, attractive guy holds much less money, power and influence than the famous woman he has shacked up with - THAT I get. Madonna, Brittany Spears, Shakira, Kourtney Kardashian, Jada Pinkett, Cameron Diaz and their nu name pool boys. Cougars are nothing new, these guys are just playing their cards right.

Somewhere in the middle of this phenomenon would be Asap Rocky and Rhianna. Both are arguably very recognizable and successful stars, and she is much less attractive than him but has boku bucks, so it’s an even exchange.

All of the above examples further confirm that men simply want and need women way more than the reverse. The myth that there is some elite population of men who is above this certainty is shattered when you look at the most prominent selection of this demographic.
