Hi I met my soon to be ex wife about 3 years ago. We married only after 3 months of knowing each other. She got kicked out of her moms house about a month after dating and I let her stay with me. One day she came in crying saying if I really wanted to be with her I would help her situation & marry her (she is undocumented). So I did. She started turning crazy always starting fights and losing it so I decided to leave the relationship. Whenever she was yelling and screaming I always called my mom and went to my moms house things never got physical. So I filed for divorce and things kept getting delayed because of COVID. 2 years later and I’m in a new relationship still waiting for the divorce to be finalized. She all of a sudden calls me & demands $10,000 or she’s going to ruin my life.She started harassing me and my gf calling my job. I filed a restraining order but I never went through with it. Next thing I know she filed one and tells the police I hit her when we were together! I beat the restraining order but now I have pending DV charges. I got a lawyer and she has absolutely no evidence. No police reports no photos or anything. We lived with other ppl none of them remember it ever getting physical. It never happened yet I’m still facing charges with only her statement as evidence. I’m stressed out right now. Can they really send me to jail with nothing to prove her word?
