Perhaps say, why do we have to acknowledge women's history while putting down the contributions of men? Why can't we just recognize the few recorded contributions of women as what they are, contributions to human society and our collective history? Why do there have to be sides when last time I checked, men and women together created every generation of humans since before history itself? Just be clear though, this also means that I do not agree with the video, having a women's history month is not sexist. The reason why history has so few notable women is because for most of it, women were not allowed to be notable. The purpose, in my opinion is to highlight the unique obstacles that many women had to overcome just to be standing on the same ground that men were able to walk right into. I know this will piss some people off so I will reiterate this does not mean I'm trying to downplay the sacrifices that many men made throughout history, it is simply stating the truth. While women were also shielded from some of the brutality of history, the were also shielded from the ability to contribute their skills, knowledge and ideas. That should piss everyone off. We essentially chose to work only with half our population and hoped that was enough to work. How many artists, scholars, scientists and inventors did we miss out on because they were the wrong gender? How much harder did the ones we do know of have to work to be seen?

It is part of being the dominant social group. Which is also why there is a black history month. You only need to point out the exception to the norm. You don’t see or think about the “air” you breath everyday.

If japan had a larger white minority. They might have a white history month. About the heritage of that minority that doesn’t get there perspective focused on very often within the mainstream Japanese culture. History would just be history from the mainstream Japanese perspective. The same goes for every country that has enough diversity and freedom to have well established groups of ethnic minorities.

Women aren't a minority. But historically history is almost always from a male perspective because 99% of women had no power of freedom to do anything.
