I live in a latin american country (Panama), while at a surface our conservative cultute might seem to favor men, when it comes to issues regarding men as victims is quite the opposite.

In the past few months there have been a wave of people going missing. As of writing this 29 men and 17 women are missing. However few news outlets mention the men missing and only focus on the women. On social media there is a public outrage because women have gone missing, but no one acknowledges the men. It was so strong that I did not know men where missing if it wasn’t by a comment I read that led me to investigate further.

All in all, this goes to prove that it does not matter whether the culture is more progressive or conservative, men victims do not receive proper attention.
