People forget that alpha and beta aren't inherently good and bad nor are they specifically defined. Both are sexual strategies and if you can make being more beta work for you, do it. From my point of view, the point of TRP is to maximize yourself in every way. Happiness, financially, physically, mentally, etc. You don't have to go for all of them. Do what works for you and always improve yourself in some way.

The woman sees her partner every day. She saw him with diarrhea, she was there when he couldn't keep his flag high, she saw him crying, he probably sought her for emotional support at some points.
At some stage in the LTR, you might have been there yourself, if the woman has the lead, she puts her value on the top of his. Memory is biased, she might be pissed at him and will just remember him on his worst, and that crap. There's the possible (relative) lack of abundance she might be in. There's the possibility she might be in intense lack of comfort and wants a guy she can control with her "tools".
Shortening it, there are a million mechanisms that make committed women that open themselves easier targets than other women.
Most PUA will say she doesn't even need to be open. If you fly under the radar (she doesn't feel you're interested on her) and offer a bit of high value male validation, she will open up.

I'm not someone to encourage guys pulling this sort of thing, you're depriving some guys that maybe would put up with her crap from a (relatively) good LTR, you're depriving her from a chance, and you might be stalling your game.
On the other hand, in some circumstances you can safely say that it would be someone else if it wasn't you, in these cases it's hard to find a reason not to do it.
