i know I'll be banned if i comment there so i might as well come where there will be actual discussion of how much bullshit this claim is:

it's partly true- i do notice more unattractive men in media than women

but it's true for the wrong reasons:

  1. of course there appear to be more attractive women than men in media and irl - bc 99% of men do not wear makeup - there are just as many equally unattractive women than those unattractive men in media - they just literally cover it up and it's societally acceptable for them to. but if men are ugly they're expected to just own it, they're not allowed to literally paint the ugly off of their face , inject their obesity into their butt or bolt on some plastic to their chest.

    spanks and rogaine are about as far as that's allowed and even those will get men made fun of if discovered bc they are not socially acceptable the way a woman can proudly wear her makeup, and share "beauty secrets"- aka ways to hide their ugliness . so ugly women do have it easier than ugly men.

you could argue that men's looks don't matter it's more about his money but that's bc many women like to use men for their money, so it's women's fault that men have that part "easier". also that goes both ways. men would love to marry a princess or an heiress , nowadays even a rich professional woman, it's just rare that a woman marries a man who makes less than her, while a man will more often marry a woman regardless of her money. so even in the money compensation bypass to beauty women have it easier. feminists have nothing to complain about.

  1. why is it whenever a man says you don't need to wear all that makeup/ take an hour picking out an outfit/ we don't care if your lingerie is $2 or $2000, just being naked is fine, women always admit- "we don't wear it/do it for you! we do it for ourselves or to compete with each other!"

    but then conveniently in this conversation we always pretend men have impossible beauty standards and pretend men are the reason women need to spend 500 hours on makeup and suddenly it's more of the patriarchy cruelly suppressing ugly unfortunate women ?

it's true that pretty privilege is a thing everybody has a part in that, that's just reality unfortunately- but women are the ones who enforce their own beauty standards the most, not men. as long as a woman doesn't appear homeless and dirty, most men don't care if women wear dresses, paper sacks or as close to nothing at all as possible, men love women wearing bikinis and short shorts anywhere possible with no makeup. they'd prefer the latter actually almost nude.

women are the ones who try to buy waterproof/sweatproof makeup for the beach and swimming bc they judge each other. do many guys like their women to shave their legs and armpits? sure. do most guys like their women to have long hair? sure. do almost all guys prefer women who aren't obese? sure. but those are very non oppressive broad strokes that take minimal effort compared to how much women oppressively judge each other.

so there it is. the patriarchy is not responsible for women cutting each other down. blaming that on men is like men blaming women for war since men fight war to get more resources and show their strength to impress women - sure it's probably somewhat true - but we're all responsible for our own actions - which explains why feminists like this fake theory, since they're allergic to responsibility for their own actions.
