The Stanford marshmallow test provided some insight on how self-control can be the key to success in life.

Turns out that self-control can lead to more productive human beings.

And single mother is going to have a hard time teaching a son self-control past the age of 8, 9, and especially 10, since that boy will likely be bigger and stronger than her.

And, no, I'm not endorsing hitting children. But, having a father to grab a son by the arm and tell him to behave himself matters a lot.
