Is "average" the man whose attractiveness is between all men who exist currently, or the men whose attractiveness is between gross and what's POTENTIALLY the hottest man alive?

So most men are a bit overweight and 5 foot 9 with a non descript face.

An ultra attractive 10 out of 10 is a tall model faced adonis.

Is the AVERAGE man, or what women consider average, actually the centre point between totally gross and amazingly hot (a averaged height, simple hair cut, clean, non offensive but bland face, minimal muscle mass but not fat) or the ACTUAL average....which is somebody along the lines of a young Seth Rogan?

When women cite "average" do they mean Mr Bland clean and unoffensive looking but not really in ownership of any attractive qualities, or the man who MOST men look like....a bit chubby, height one inch off "short" with a soft but not ugly face...
