Guys over age 30: Faking Tinder age to get younger matches, and clarifying in profile text?

Seems like a match made in heaven for the girls below 18 who are faking their ages and explaining in their profiles that they're not really 26.

"Look here, babe. You're not 26 and I'm not 26, so really we have a lot in common."

The problem is the default age range for younger women means you never even show up in their matches unless they have manually changed it. I have been considering doing this too.

I am 41 and I actually think that 40 is the magical barrier. I match with some 26-29 year old sometimes, but the majority is older.

A good friend who is 42 has a fake FB profile set to 35 and he is getting better matches. I do not care enough at the moment in order to do it, since I got more important stuff to take care of than looking for aditional plates.

I get conceptually what you're trying to say.

And I think it's very important that you included the 33 part in your profile. because the girl needs to be aware of ultimately what she's dealing with or else she's gone in 2nanoseconds if she finds out you were lying at any point.

the problem though is you shouldn't tinker with your profile age more than like a certain extent. At 33, you can maybe go to 30 or 29.

26 is TOO much. You're deviating wayy too far from the truth.

and if you're looking for serious relationships as you stated, you're best off stating your actual age or "30" at the least. nothing built on fake info lasts long dude.

Personally, I think 28 is about as far as you can stretch it unless you are particularly young looking and/or good looking (Matthew Gray Gubler is 37, Jim Parsons is 44, Keaneu Reeves is 52, etc). Plus if you don't correct that in the profile you need to at least hint at it and correct it during the first exchange.

But what are you doing on Tinder anyways? I've been using OKCupid since its inception, and POF, Lavalife et al before that, for almost 20 years of online dating. I never lie about my age, and tend to date in the half-plus-7 range, although a bit tighter-in when I was younger (I'm now 50).

If you're 33 and want to generalize it down to 30, sure. It's not lying it's flirting. Almost an 8 year difference is too much, however.

There are certain things you shouldn't fake. I know a married guy who pretended to be single on dating sites. Imagine womens reaction when they found out.

It's not much difference with your age. Someone who does that does not only come accross as fake and a liar. He also comes accross as someone who is insecure about himself. Don't do that.
