All these online ideologies about relationships and sex are hiding a really sad truth about modern societies. People are unhappy because they're realising how unfair society has been to their sex since time immemorial. Women have always been seen as assets or property that needs to be protected, sheltered and used the way cattle or objects are. Their appearance, their fertility and their obedience have been all they can offer to society for centuries. Men have always been treated as invaluable, being sent to wars and dangerous jobs that cost them their lives, are told their emotions are invalid or that the only way they can be appreciated by anyone is by making money and providing resources.
There is an evolutionary explanation for both situations, the world is a tough place and surviving has already required sacrifices that strip people of their rights to be happy and loved. We've lived centuries of dehumanisation of both sexes.
Now that society no longer requires this unfair treatment of both sexes, people are confused and frustrated. Suddenly, young people are not forced to marry and have families, men don't necessarily have families to provide for, women don't necessarily have children to take care of. Both sexes have a chance to do whatever they want, so relationships have lost their survivalistic character. The choices are many, the possibilities are endless. People get to set their own standards and make their own choices.
How can a person approach another person nowadays when everybody can choose from a variety or richer, hotter, smarter, funnier people? What makes a person enough for the other? There's always someone better at something, there's always a prettier woman, a richer guy, so how can you compete in today's society, where everybody is fucking everybody else? It is apaprent that, the more we see each other as simple transactions of looks, money and status, the more we'll be incompetent in this so-called sex-value market and the more we're going to be seen as consumer goods.
I don't know how most people will escape from this pathetic view on life. I don't want anybody to be alone, but what's happening is that we're heading towards an alienated and superficial world without love or connection. Jesus fucking Christ, how do we escape this nightmare?
