This is not true at all. This statement couldnt be as far from the truth.

I grew up in very traditional surroundings, and boys were super cruel to other boys. I myself suffered a lot of physical and mental abuse in high school, I was poor, part of geek culture, and easy target. This was during 90s. I also knew that gay men who were out of the closet suffered a lot of abuse by peer. I cannot be more empathetic with them.

But, and this was case with me at least, girls never got any kind of abuse. There was sometimes name calling, and it vas very, very rarely. And its not that they were easy target, they were. Abusers (bullies doesnt cut for me, bullying is often seen as innocent kids play) were hard on all boys who showed weakness, often beating them up.

Everybody was afraid to say anything to authorities. We all knew somebody would be beaten up if someone said something. But in my society (eastern Europe at that time) it was such a taboo to do anything to girls, that they were the only ones who had free pass to say something to authorities. Most of them seen a lot of torture and just didnt feel responsible to do something.

But back to topic. Through growing up and adulthood girls were definitely given the easy hand. Boys had it rough, gays had it rough, minorities had it rough.

Even in societies where there isnt a scandal where girls are being abused by boys, you just cannot compare yourself with real victims and say "we had it rough as homosexuals". You dont know how priviledged you are.
