No one knows what feminism is. I have researched it and there is no answer. Feminism is whatever a woman wants it to be and she changes her mind everyday.

TL;DR - Your dictionary definition argument is a fallacy. (Here is some thoughts I was writing down and actually came across this thread, tell me google does not listen in on your conversations! lol

Feminists HATE that you aren't Feminist too.

Could you imagine if you were Catholic and you said no, that Catholic said "WELL the dictionary definition is..." and tried to shoehorn you into accepting a label that really doesn't apply to you? THEN they go and take snip-its of what they believe and say "Well don't you think stealing is bad? WE have a commandment against that. You must be pro-stealing then".

Well you can be against stealing and not be Catholic. But to a mind of a feminist they cannot in any way believe that you can be a for equality but not a feminist.

There are beliefs that can overlap for sure. Anyone that says "I'm against everything feminism has ever done" is lying or uneducated to what campaigns exist under the banner of feminism. If there was a Feminist group that was campaigning against circumcision. And you were against this sort of thing. Your ideas align here and would not necessarily see "Feminism" as an enemy here. But is that enough to say "Well I'm a feminist because we align in this one area."?

Most ideological labels are used as short hand to quickly convey what you believe to another party. if "I'm a feminist" is so vague to only mean equality then the word is meaningless and you might as well use the word "equality" as that is just as defined to what you believe. But from my experiences, that isn't good enough for most feminists and will explain WHY feminism is the word we use. This already debunks the idea that feminism only means equality.

Another problem with the label of feminism is the loaded beliefs that come with the label on HOW we achieve equality. For example. we may both agree rape is bad and no one should rape. But a feminist may believe the way we get rid of rape in society is to remove due process and "teach men not to rape". But if you disagree with that idea, they say "Why are you pro-rape?" NO, I just disagree with the feminist solution to getting rid of rape.

So you are still feminist and you agree with most of what I say. Now what? Nothing, because Feminism is an ideology, you are allowed to accept and reject anything your label teaches.

But if you find yourself disagreeing more and more with what the movement is doing and disagreeing more and more with the arguments being made. Maybe the label doen't really fit to what you actually believe if you find yourself making more excuses as to why you are keeping the label vs defending the arguments being made by the movement.

defending the arguments? you are probably still feminist. making excuses for bad feminists and saying more and more "Well my feminism is different" or "Well I'm a feminist and I don't believe that". Maybe you aren't a feminist.

There is power in high numbers. That is why feminists want you to be feminist too.

It is the label that is important because they know that there are loaded beliefs within that label but will insist that it is simply a dictionary definition.

How useful would it be to say "Well I'm a Democrat because the dictionary definition says..." then you have to say "But, I'm pro-life, I want small government, I want low taxes on everyone including the rich, the rich ARE paying their fair share, no one has a right to your services you provide no matter how much someone needs them... as you stack more and more and the ONLY reason you say "I'm a Democrat" is because you believe in climate change?

Wouldn't it be easier to say "I'm Republican but I believe Cliamate Change is an issue we all need to take seriously!" Ideologies are allowed to overlap but to the mind of the feminist, they want you to take on the label and then say "But I don't believe..." As my list would be entirely too long it is easier to say "I disagree with feminism on many issues, but breastfeeding is where we align and I am an ally in that area of campaigning".

If believing in equality requires I have to believe in "The Patriarchy", believe in a debunked discriminatory wage gap, believe killing babies should be a right left up to the mother, believe that manspreading is an issue but doesn't even know what she-bagging is, making a claim that a man is "mansplaining" refutes every argument, that women are oppressed and that MEN are the causation, That gender roles are a problem, or that gender is a social construct, Where men benefit from men in power but women don't because 'check your privilege' (see disparity = discrimination fallacy). To reject due process because "believe women" is more important. like every feminist site I have ever been to making these arguments. Then sorry, my equality is different than yours and to prevent confusion, I will not be using your label that is potentially loaded with what I have listed as beliefs above.
