We were married for nearly 5 years and she lived with me for 4 . The facts : 1. the house is solely in my name , I’m the sole named mortgage holder and I had the house for 5 years before we met .it’s a 50% shared ownership so I have to also pay some rent . 2.all the bills were in my name excluding the council tax (joint names) and she paid the sky bill 3. She would do all the shopping and we would spilt the bills in half , so she would pay me an amount based on half the food cost , half the rent for the 3 of us and mortgage and other bills and deduct half the sky bill. 4.her son (now 11)lived with us also (not mine) 5. The payments I received from her went directly into my bank account with no references regarding what the money was for . 6.I used to look after her son quite often in the evenings if she was working late (sometimes until 11pm) 7. She was claiming disability allowance for her son because he had diagnosed learning difficulties. 8. She spent some money partially redecorating the house , although her son has ruined the carpet in the old bedroom . 9.she’s left her caravan on my property the entire time since she’s left (6 months ago)

She is filing in January for a no fault divorce but she wants a settlement figure .in her words “ I want some money back for the mortgage payments , not the rent . And I want some money for the work I put into the house “ Should be mentioned that I paid for new flooring in the kitchen which she didn’t contribute to . And I also built a bar in the garden which she enjoyed but also did not assist me with financially . So the question is what realistically could she legally ask from me ? The payments into my bank over the 4 years add up to about 7.2k but the amounts she gave me were highly variable and some months I don’t think she paid me enough .
