I love football. I never saw Pele live, but my father did and those stories touched me. My first instinct when he died was to call my dad. When my team loses it hurts and when they win I walk on clouds.

But I think what people react to is that football alone has nothing to do with human rights or mens rights (as the Qatar world cup showed).

This is a sub for mens rights. So when male footballers get screwed economically this is the place. When their freedom of speech gets silenced by FIFA this is the place. But just footballchats in general is better in other subs.

So keeping the public aware of these true things happening is toxic? No, not at all. The truth is the truth. Pointing it out isn't a problem. Stating or implying that these things should be ignored because they 'rarely happen' (which isn't even true) is a denying tactic, and definitely harmful to men in general.

We should point these things out, but then downplay them? That's ridiculous. This is a problem and it needs to be addressed. Playing Mr Nice Guy hasn't worked so far.

Hobbies are nice. Playing and watching sports is great. WE CAN DO BOTH. WE SHOULD DO BOTH. Playing ostrich is not a solution. Problems don't get better by ignoring them.
