I don't know, I think they hid the identity for a reason.

My friend has taken a similar path. He is a YouTuber who started with this ideology, but only in secret so far. I think he knows it could make or break his channel if he shows that he is alt right & extremely hateful. Of course, he just describes it as political issues, not hate. He sees it all as protecting the country & children but he won't even have a civil discussion with me, just mean rants.

He has become a raging angry, radicalized man who scares me. I was active in his community but once I became friends offline, he told me his views and basically tried to indoctrinate and berate me. I ended up blocking him but saying I was scared for him being radicalized. I blocked him because he would not apologize for tirades and insults, or repair the damaged trust, but part of me felt sorry for him, so I said he can reach out if he comes out of this or stops talking politics.

This article reminds me so much of my experience. I don't think the guy I know has any self insight, even as a life coach, which is INSANE. He helps abuse victims, but in private he indoctrinates people into the alt right and QAnon? It was traumatic. I was in extreme shock at first. He doesn't seem to hate women and lots of his viewers and clients are women. But I think he seems really angry & hateful to almost everyone.

I've been following redpill and incel groups for quite a while. It's a concerning trend to me, but I follow it more for my own awareness than anything else.

I find it valuable to hear what those who are finding or have found their way out of those communities have to say.

I've been sucked down the drain of making negative responses myself, and I'm certainly old enough to know better. I've made a real effort to try to respond only in a positive way or when I feel I have something to offer, on controversial forums.

I try to save my venting for those forums specifically designed for that.

Edit to add, that I was mid-50s when I discovered World of Warcraft, in it's first expansion. I literally felt like a child there, having to go through adolescence all over again. Needless to say, I encountered gamer culture...'nuff said!
