International law is a tricky subject that requires specialty even in the legal profession. Your average divorce attorney will not know. The answer typically depends on which other country is involved.

The fact that’s it’s not another first world county is likely helpful. It’s likely one of two scenarios but you’d need to get a proper lawyer specializing in international law to be sure.

The first scenario is there’s an agreement between the two countries where they respect judgements from the other jurisdiction. These agreements are extremely prevalent with child support. You need to find out if such an agreement exists for divorce assets. If it does then all your wife likely needs to do is petition a US court with her Egyptian judgement and they’ll enforce it here.

The second scenario (you should be hoping for this one) is there is no agreement and she must conduct an entirely separate legal effort in a court with jurisdiction over you to gain anything.

The whole reason for the existence of agreements (first scenario) is that it’s difficult and expensive to conduct remote legal proceedings. So they had to find a way to shortcut it to make it easier.

Now that you know what you’re looking for, you might actually be able to get a reasonable idea by searching for the existence of agreement treaties on line. Even though you don’t have kids, confirm you can find information about child support agreements between the US and European countries. If you can’t find proof they exist your search skills are insufficient for this job and any results would be unreliable. Don’t continue.

But if it was easy to confirm they exist, branch out and see what standard divorce without kids looks like again with European countries. Egypt will be equal or lesser than this. But not worse. So it establishes the height of the bar and the terminology from which you should be looking for with Egypt.

I might be wrong, but I don't see how the Egyptian courts could force US banks to do anything.
