I don't know man, maybe it's just me but I never give complements to girls that never sucked my dick before, you're just injecting her ego with social validations and that's supposed to be her orbiters' duty, not yours.
There are lots of possibilities for why shit went south with this prospect: Your low SMV, your retarded catch phrase (Which she would've tolerated if you were actually HOT), hell maybe she's not even the one texting you (A lot of girls give each other their facebook passwords, it's a nightmare)...

If you read whats on the side bar "How to use dating sites", you can see that OP never gives away validation. He keeps it basic, direct and simple.

I treat facebook like tinder; very few carefully selected very well taken pictures to display my SMV (It's all in the side bar), I send a simple boring text like "hi, how are you?", no fucking compliments, no cringe-worthy overused unoriginal catchphrases. When she replies, I ask if she's in my city, if yes, I reply to tell her where I live exactly and ask where she does, something short and simple like "I'm in downtown. You?" (I found it's important to be first to tell her where you live exactly), when she replies I ask for the phone number, and that's it. The phone number must be used so we can hear each other voices and not for texting. Why hear each other voices? Because read the fucking link I posted above, you lame-catchphrase copy-pasting lazy fuck!^jk

But seriously, the fact she replied must mean your not unattractive. The way I read her 1st reply was playfully saying she's not a girlie girl. Potentially signalling she's a naughty slut. I would have replied along the lines of "Good, I like a girl that's got a dark side".

From there I would expect her to covertly agree, and it's game on to meet. If she disagreed, then there's over 1 billion other girls to randomly message on FB.

Summary:

Be more playful not try hard. The scarcity oozes from your texts...you can't decide whether to be cocky or nice...and it comes off cringe-worthy. Since she's a random girl...you come off as stalkerish and creepy. It's too much...too fast.

Tease her...don't be afraid to lose her.

Also, don't do random online approaches...it's creepy...Do approaches in real life.

Online, there's a whole different approach. It has to start with girls who are mildly open to this...like a dating site. Randomly on Facebook? Creepy.

and it honestly doesn't matter what platform you send ur messages as long as you can send pictures on it ur good, i've had success with instagram etc
