No, it doesn't, and it shouldn't. There should be no quotas for either sex.

The place this causes problems is in the mating market. Many women have the "eat cake and have it" problem of wanting academic and career success, but also want to marry a man who is even more successful and who is willing to be the provider. With many more women graduating college, strong ~~affirmative action~~ diversity programs favoring women in the workplace, and the economic, legal and social disincentives for men to marry, the number of women looking for this type of man exceeds the supply.

There should be a study on this. The numbers of homeless males correlates with it. But also might shed light on other numbers such as high suicide rates amongst men. It's an issue unquantified afaik. You can bet your bottom dollar feminist wont be giving it much study and if they do/or have they will simply find a way to blame "male privilege" via "patriarchy" for it.

Politically, it has been hugely successful for feminism to portray full-time devotion to paid work as the be-all and end-all of personal life satisfaction.

It allows them to portray the majority of men as having the best in life. It allows them to portray women in any role at all as being treated unfairly.

If the woman is a full-time careerist, then she's a victim because the lower percentage of women in the workforce, especially in certain desired positions, can be portrayed as evidence of 'discrimination." She can also claim that women are socially pressured into choosing to "sacrifice" their careers to care for their children.

And this claim that women "sacrifice" their careers is used in many ways. Not only by career women in an attempt to rebut claims that many women freely choose a better work/life balance because they genuinely prefer it, but also by women who quit full-time work, as a way to deny that maybe they, rather than their husbands, are getting to live their preferred life. That acknowledgement would mean having to relinquish victim status.

Women who work part-time can claim to be overburdened by them doing both paid work and childcare/housework.

Stay-at-home mothers can claim to have "the hardest job in the world."

In each case these women have a way to portray themselves as victims whose grievances deserve redress—whether from government, business, or their husbands.

On the personal level though, women who sincerely buy into this are hurting themselves immensely. Why? Because no matter what they choose they will believe themselves to be hard done by. A victim. Oppressed. All the while believing that men are living exactly the lives they want to.

It doesn't matter even if they are able to make the the life choices that would have made them happiest—with the "eternal victim" mindset you can only be unhappy, bitter, and resentful. They are robbing themselves of happiness and satisfaction in their lives.

Many women can have families without jobs? Who? The vast majority of families, at least in the US, have two incomes in order to survive. How many men are willing to be the sole breadwinner anymore? It seems to me to be not very smart from a financial or an independence standpoint (because if the marriage goes south than you can help protect yourself from being her sole support in the future). Not to mention, marriages seem more stable with both parties working or having income coming in.

This is true. But what we are also seeing is women complaining that there are no men to marry. Many women in their 30's want children but do not have a partner. Why? Because on the whole women do not marry down. They want a man with a degree and a good job. Not many men have these now!

Society used to think that way but it didn't really work all that well and was almost as broken as the current quota system.

Very rarely will you find the traditional gender roles reversed, where the woman in a hetero relationship is the breadwinner while the man stays to tend the home.

I personally feel that dynamic isn't one that should be seen as default. If two people want to enter into that arrangement of their own accord, great. But I believe that its best for people into a relationship to bring what they have to the table, and share, rather than a separation of .

That being said, I strongly doubt progressive western society considers men's perspectives with regard to quotas or academics.
