In lieu of recent Harvey Weinstein sexual assault scandal, I came across a post by a female human, and am just trying to rationalize what she said and to explain to her why it's hypocritical of her to expect other men to try to rally against the idea that male producers shouldn't use the practice of sex in exchange for roles if she herself doesn't find that idea wrongful.

So my question is - does anyone have a historical/philosophical quote by a prominent figure or a piece found in literature that through an anecdote teaches valuable lessons - which would be relevant to the analogy I'm trying to come up with? I'm pretty much sure there are lots of stories in literature which would be good examples/analogies.

Analogy I'm trying to come up with, is the one that compares a woman who uses her body in order to land a role to a woman who'd rather use her talent to do so.

It's in response to a post, which defends women who use sex to gain roles.

Here's the post by a female: "In some ways acting isn't like any other job, as you start as a nobody and build your 'brand', which can grow extremely quickly, or more slowly and naturally depending on luck and exposure.

You can have actresses like Jennifer Lawrence with global fame in her late teens, who is now worth hundreds of millions yet is still in her 20s. The rewards are absolutely amazing for the top tier roles.

It is like asking an intern if they'd sleep with the CEO to become a director of the business immediately and make 100x their salary. Would you shame people for choosing to try and take that decision if they felt it worked for them instead of spending 10-15 years to try and get there the traditional way?

I find the behaviour of the producers pretty amoral, but you need somebody amoral to agree to this behaviour rather than walking away, calling them a sleazeball and taking normal roles instead and working their way up. If the door is opened and somebody chooses to walk through it, I don't think you can criticize those consensual choices for a huge potential payoff."

Here's what I tried to write:

"I think it's shameful, but I probably wouldn't shame such a female, to each her own. But I definitely would try to instill decency onto females whom I care about - friends / siblings / daughter etc.

There's no respect to that, just like there's no respect for a businessman who uses disingenuous methods to boost his company.

That's a bad analogy because it's not a fair one. There are actresses who'd rather get a role based on the merit of their talent, rather than selling themselves up as a piece of sex toy to satisfy a primal need of an opposite gender, but because the idea of getting roles based on merit/hard work/artistic talent rather than casual sex with a producer isn't so strongly accepted by society, thus, isn't the norm, a better analogy would be ...."
