Slapped with a false accusation, fleeced by a crooked, once-fired, now campus cop, failed by an uninterested, unconcerned public defender, railroaded by a dishonest prosecutor who withheld exculpatory evidence, and denied due process by a biased and corrupt judge... this is how the "justice" system of Dayton, Ohio operates.

Dayton is far from alone. In this sub, in the news, in blogs relating historical cases, in other cases reported by A Voice For Men, we've seen this pattern over and over; bias, corruption, and the self-interest of those in authority; the juggernaut that is the state trampling the accused into submission.

Nicholas Alahverdian was denied an unbiased and thorough police investigation, denied earnest and invested representation, denied a fair trial, and then convicted based on nothing but hearsay from two individuals who both lacked credibility. The progression of his case indicates that this is routine for that area.

If this can happen under current law, it can happen to any man. All it takes to set the wheels in motion is an accuser willing to put her story on record. It will continue until the accused are given a tool with which to stop that juggernaut.

On Friday, November 15, 2013, Nicholas is going to file a motion for a new trial based on some of the multiple structural errors in his original case, including the judge's choice to deny him a jury trial in a case that resulted in him facing a serious punishment.

One way or another, his case is going to set a precedent. Do you have the right to a jury trial when accused of a crime for which the state-mandated penalty (years of imprisonment-in-public via registry requirement and the stipulations that go with it) is considered by the state to be a serious punishment? Don't you think you should?

That is why this is an important case and an important event to support.
