I was also kind of falsely accuse of rape once, and it is fucking horrible. And it was something very small. We were at a party and I just lay down next to a girl I sort of liked (She wasn't even super attractive, and afterwards i knew she was a lesbian). In those days I was super shy with girls and would not know how to facilitate a sexual encounter from start to end if it wasnt the woman who made it super clear she wanted it. So, I layed next to this woman, she was sleeping, and started caressing her arm. We wereth dressed. Everything was silent. At some point i moved near her breasts and she woke up (or maybe she already was), but she freaked the fuck out. She told the people in the house "like 7-10 people") I was "touching and feeling her". People went outraged at me, and a shit storm ensued. I was very close to get my ass kicked. Andyway, I apologized, and left the place. After that, I got confronted by people in a couple of occasions, kind of informal "trials". I had some respect in the community where this happened, so I wasn't treated like a total piece of shit. nevertheless many people called me a "rapist", and it was fucking disheartening, and i lost respect from many people after that. it was fucking horrible. I started avoiding contact with people, and always anxious about what people could be thinking or talking about me, and the idea of getting called a rapist wherever i went was extremely stressful. I lost contact with most of the people involved, but I'm pretty sure there are many of them who still remember this and won't let it go.

That fucked with my self-image prety harshly. After that, i decided to learn how to initiate a sexual relationship from the beginning to end, with the help of some pua material, which ended up working ok enough.

Anyway, after that episode, i learned that there is probably no worse insult than being called a rapist.
