My daughter is 13 years old in Davidson county, TN. She would rather spend time with her stepfather than real father. My right was to pick her up for full weekend. She asked if I could pick her up Saturday night at 10pm and take her back in the morning. To be fair to both of us (step-dad and me). I've become a convenient way to escape one weekend every couple months for fun activities away from the norm. It's been my goal to see how the relationship would develop from the start despite adverse motives from her side of the family to destroy us. They've succeeded. I've supported financially and emotionally but had to move a state away to find stable work (after being let go from work in my home state after exceeding sick leave to attend court hearings). Since then the mother re-married and things have really gotten worse. Ultimately, it's their decision to see me or not. They have all the power and control. Always is the arrangement at my expense and convenience to them. The judge had ordered supervised visitation for first 2 years and my ex still has a terrible attitude towards our agreements on visitation. Which boils down to whenever my daughter might need to be away from her primary residence that suites my ex's social life. My question to reddit. I'm over the point of trying legally for any role in beneficial parenting. I'm so mad at the judge who presided over my case it's destroyed my soul inside. My last court appearance was 2 years ago, since then the judge presiding over my case has retired. The new judge did make me feel better about myself and condemned the rulings from the previous judge. However, the damage is done! I can't risk another drawn out battle with my daughter being the age she is. What's the point? Win custody for 2 years? Then she is off to college. Basically, I've been raped by the court system. I would like to stop paying child support. I'm a little depressed today. My daughter is now at an age that it hurts to hear she would rather spend fathers day with her stepfather than me. What can i do? I will NOT waste anymore money on lawyers and a failed court system. Believe me, I've spent 11 years fighting and suffered too long. We have decided to no longer communicate but i'll still pay child support. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks! Hug your loved ones folks. Happy Father's day! Sorry for the incoherent sentences. I'm very emotional today and not thinking clearly. More than happy to answer questions, if interested in helping a frantic upset father.
