Why has feminists made rape a women's issue when it happens to both men and women?

I was just wondering about this today myself. What is it about feminism that give its adherents domain over the subject of rape? They're not criminologists, psychologists, medical doctors, lawyers, etc. Being a feminist doesn't give any insight into rape. It's the status as victims that feminism is after. They co-opt the victimhood of rape victims and rebrand it as the plight of all women for political power - ignoring male rape victims is just a slight inconvenience.

Why is it that discussions about false rape accusations by MRA is frowned upon on reddit when it's clearly a men's issue?

I'm not sure - a psychologist and university professor I emailed suggested, in her personal opinion (she had been at a conference regarding the CDC Rape Stat Study) that (paraphrasing) "they didn't want male victims to get in the way of a 'violence against women study'" You end up with.. well, just look at my infograph
Because it is a touchy subject - and with good reason. Rape is a very traumatic thing. But you know what else is traumatic? Being accused of rape when you didn't do it. So you have all these tensions, and when tensions are high, they are primed. So when you have feminists calling you a 'rape apologist' and 'pro rape' - this is the kind of mix you have.

Consider that feminism has a much better grip on society - it is only now beginning to unwind on itself.

Also I see you are a new user to reddit - I suspect this is more of a throwaway, but regardless, welcome, be weary, we have a pretty open moderation policy here, so you get fake MRA from SRS and other feminist hubs trying to scare people away. :)

false rape allegations undermine the credibility of legitimate victims. So they want to deny its existence.

The fact that it's a men's issue is a large part of it. Not sure if I understand the reasoning behind your phrasing.

How much money goes to sustaining careers in the rape industry, again? How many of those careers would be sustained if funds were distributed equally to the genders? All that money, going in to men's hands and not women's. That's why.
