"The Last Jedi" is full of weak male characters and steeped in politically correct orthodoxy

Saw it last night. It's not much different to other Star Wars movies or even Star Trek: if you were OK with them, don't be put off seeing it by this article. I must agree with /u/lionroar123 - this article is some sort of wanting-to-be-a-victim hypersensitivity. It's not the greatest Star Wars film in my view but if it's trying to send subtle messages about the superiority of diversity and social justice movements ... then it utterly fails.

(spoilers ahead)

It fails because if it's really supposed to be some sort of subliminal SJW brainwashing, why does it send the exact opposite message to what we'd expect? What message will viewers take away from this movie? Star Wars has always been unusual in that whilst good has occasional victories, it's essentially a story in which evil wins. The rebels inflict very minor slowdowns on the Empire from time to time and that's about it.

Last Jedi takes this to its ultimate conclusion: the Empire is run exclusively by white British/American men and the rebels are a perfectly racially and gender balanced group run by women. What is the result?

The rebels are useless. Whenever they achieve a "victory" it doesn't seem to slow the Empire/First Order down at all or even concern them much, yet this damage come at massive cost to themselves.
They're constantly being sold out to the Empire by people who clearly don't give a shit about their cause, for trivial sums of money. It is revealed that the rebels buy their X-Wings from arms merchants who are simultaneously selling to the Empire.
That's because nobody in the wider galaxy cares about them anymore: nobody responds to their distress signal in their hour of need even though that was their entire "brave" plan, to call for help. We can infer that the inhabitants of the Star Wars universe have figured out that the rebels are run by clueless idiots who have no chance.
This happens mostly because the rebels are outclassed on a massive scale both economically and technologically. The Empire is constantly developing shiny new proprietary tech like the lightspeed tracker device, but the women-run rebellion appears to have no interest in new technology and invest nothing in R&D. What they have, they bought (from the demographics of the casino, it is inferred they bought their tech exclusively from men). Their kit is decades out of date as a consequence. In the final battle the rebels are driving craft that are literally falling apart from rust without even being shot at. The Empire deploys new tech twice in Last Jedi to gain a key strategic advantage.
But it also happens because both women leading the rebellion are useless at strategy and leadership. They are constantly hiding and running between their rebel bases, instead of recruiting and decentralising. They're fighting a traditional military campaign although they should be fighting an insurgency. After taking over from Leia Holden doesn't tell Poe about the rebel base they're fleeing to or the ability to cloak the transports, for no reason at all really - there's nothing bad he could have done with that information. She keeps him in the dark merely because she's a raging sexist who considers him an unlikeable "flyboy". She doesn't have any other commanders but this does not bother Holden. She starts their relationship by gloating to him about his demotion. Not surprisingly Poe and several others in what's left of the alliance including two other women decide that Holden is useless and come up with an alternative plan, which goes badly wrong leading to the deaths of nearly every rebel.
As a consequence of the above, by the end of the movie the rebel alliance is literally a handful of people who fit on the Millenium Falcon. They have lost all their ships, their bases and their people. The alliance is wiped out: the First Order has destroyed them completely.

I imagine that at least some children who watch these films infer the following: if you want to be on the winning side in life, work for groups exclusively run by white men with British accents. Stay away from groups stuffed with multi-racial tokens run by blue haired men-hating women, who are constantly running away and losing.

If the script writers were really trying to teach people the value of diversity this film has to be the worst way to do it imaginable.

Is there any place today where you can get movies or books promoting traditional gender roles? I think it's completely dying out. Even harsh male movies like Mad Max contain super strong power women these days.

Why did Admiral Holdo wear an evening gown during the entire movie? It would be difficult to take a fleet leader seriously if she's dressed like she's going to a party after the battle is over.

For that matter, what kind of Admiral just abandons ships to be blown up as they run out of fuel, when apparently lightspeed ramming was an option all along?

And what was the slow speed retreat to "the only planet in front of them" supposed to accomplish?

What exactly did DJ sell to the Republic that gave him not only his freedom, but a crapload of money too.

Rey's trip to "train" with Luke seemed a bit pointless as well, what did he teach her?

Who is Snoke and why is he so powerful in the Force? well he's dead, so it doesn't matter. He was just a MacGuffin all along.

Why were Finn and Rose able to slip away (and return) completely unnoticed by the rebels or the Republic ships? seems like however they did that, all of them could have done that.

Basically, what I'm saying is there are LOADS of imperfections and sloppy plot devices in the movie without manufacturing SJW issues that only exist if you decide they exist.

The fact that Rey is a Mary Sue trope is undeniable though. Her character would have been panned as ridiculous from the start if she were male, but since it's a female lead role being completely without flaws is apparently ok...hell, she doesn't even get dirty.
