How long do you think it would take for the men’s rights movement to be as successful as feminism?

When workers are no longer required, and when psychological means of control have been replaced by simple brute force, then the plutocracy will drop its lapdog off at the pound. Until then, they need to fill the workforce with the more compliant sex, and they need to keep beating the psychological crap out of men and boys with all the "men are evil" crap.

It cannot be as succesful for two main reasons,

1: women are almost always the majority of voters in most western countries (due to more men dying doing dangerous jobs that women dont want to do or cant, not living as long and more men being in prison partly because punishments are harder on men and men have more incentive to become criminals as we get less help in society)

2: Women have an in-group bias while men have an out-group bias. This means that majority of women treat other women better than they treat men, while majority of men treat women better than we treat other men. This influences voting where women are more biased and will vote more for things that benefits their own group while men are more likely to be fair and objective and care about womens interest as much as our own, sometimes more than our own interests.

This is why MRA wont be able to get far in terms of reform, but it can still wake a lot of young men up and make them realize that they arent privileged compared to women and that that was never the case.

Hopefully never. The bigger this movement is the worse the problems will probably be. I hope it disappears entirely. I hope the MRM and feminism disappear and we start to actually treat everybody with respect as fellow human beings.

But that'll never fucking happen. The truth is I don't think we'll ever be accepted by mainstream culture because the mainstream is so opposed to discussing the problems men face. And even those willing to talk about it would still dismiss us as neckbeard sexists who need to 'man up'. Or worse, they'll tell us all our problems are really because of the 'patriarchy'.

Well, feminism has been, in the modern form, gaining traction since the 60's (when it was a laughable and heavily mocked belief). We've only just begun to take a stance akin to women in the 60's. We're laughable to most of the public right now. So I'd say there is a long road ahead until we're able to change societies perception. Every 10 years we'll notice some small gains but realize there is a long way to go. At least 20 years till we feel any real change in our every day lives.

So men have further to go than women did over the past 100 years. We do have the right to vote, for example.

I would consider men equal to women when the following is true:

Men are not presumed to be the primary breadwinner and are not socially pressured to be the primary wage earner.
Men are not assumed to be at fault in any sexual encounter, no matter what the stats are of crime committed, they actually get protection under the law.
Boys falling behind in early childhood education is taken as seriously as girls not going into STEM.
Men are able to choose when they want to be a father.
Men cannot be drafted, unless the draft applies equally to both genders.

Of these, only the last one could be obtained with a constitutional amendment. The rest would be more general changes to society -- in theory we have equal protection laws but in reality "equal protection" means "protection of women."

The fourth one -- men choosing when they want to be a father -- will probably happen as the result of technology. I'm thinking RISUG or other easily reversible injections that render a man sterile but can be reversed much more easily than a vasectomy. When entrapping men into fatherhood becomes literally impossible for any guy who can afford a quick trip to the clinic we're going to see a massive cultural shift, since "pulling the goalie" will no longer be an option.

Everything else is going to require a squishy cultural change, which is much less defined, and takes much longer, than changing the law.

The trick is to support these ideas on a public scale without ever mentioning men's rights. Approach from a feminist perspective, if it applies to the situation. Example: the draft. "Women are just as strong as men! Women not being considered as good soldiers as men is derogatory sexism! Fight the patriarchy by requiring women to sign up for the draft!" Obviously it's all a load of bullshit, but using mainstream media can do a lot.

I think gynocentrism is too deeply rooted in our biology (neoteny). Men being disposable and women being granted extra protection is a natural instinct that plays into the hands of feminism. We'll never get rid of that, sadly.

So much pessimism here. “Never” is a strong word. The very early feminist movement thought it would never succeed, and look where they are now.

MRM is an early movement that has made significant progress. 10 years ago, people didn’t even know we existed. It is just in its early stages.
