So apparently the dregs of television, "Celebrity" Big Brother, is going to have an all female cast to celebrate the "Representation of the People Act 1918" act which gave the right to vote to women. Do they not also realise it gave MEN the right to vote too?

No they don't that has sort of pushed out of history, no mention that a load of one religious group in Northern Ireland did not get the vote until 1970. Its all BS and I have seen it mentioned that there were women on the UK register in the 1700's. 1918 changed the way in which people were allowed to vote, can these idiots start getting their history right?

Yes the fact that the UK first gave the vote to most men in the same act of parliament as most women is apart of history that feminists hate because they always have to pretend women are victims and frankly also because they haven't had many other issues to talk about beyond the vote.

If you ask a feminist to name an issue facing women they will often say the vote.

I agree with your point, but you should correct "none of those men has the right to vote", as that statement is false. Some did have that right.

The soldiers who didn't have the right to vote were predominantly working class.

But yes, we're coming up to 100 years since the Representation of the People Act (1918) which was a major event for both women and working class men. We'll only hear about the women.

It's our duty to get out there and remind people of the full story. 1918 gave women the vote, but let's remind everyone that men fought for it too.

Prior to 1918, there was no universal suffrage in the UK. All those soldiers who died in WW1, drowning in the mud at Somme, none of those men has the right to vote.

A fair number of the officers and older men would have qualifed to vote. A rather larger number would have had the right to vote prior to entering the armed forces.

In order to vote before then you had to own property.

Sufficient income was also acceptable.

Not really. Race has never been a criteria for voting in britian. Jewish would of course have been an issue since for long periods there would have been no way for them to be legaly in the country.
