the google memo guy didn't cover one single fact that if you ask me is the most important when it comes to gender differences: different mating strategies influence career choices.
We know that men place more value in youth and beauty in a potential mate while women value more the ability to provide resources. therefore men are driven to the most lucrative professions that the current job market offers, in this case tech jobs, to be provider for women and for their families or also to attract a variety of partners and have a successful and varied sexual life. that's why men are overly represented in top earning professions.
if for hypothesys shoveling manure was one of the most profitable job around, you would see lots of men competing to get access to that job to impress women.
this is so obvious that it would be impossible for anyone to deny it but we live in a society where ideology often prevails over logic and common sense. If the google memo guy had mentioned this point, you would have had the post-modernist, regressive camp arguing that mating differences in the two genders are the product of socialization rather than being the result of evolution.
