To be fair... that was the original title of the article before the Guardian updated it. This wasn't an OP trying to suppress the fact that one of them was a woman.

has been sentenced to four years, nine months to 15 years

Can anyone explain this to me. I thought that a prison sentence was for a set amount of time not a range.
