Hi first time poster so please point out any flaws and I will improve on it for my next post.

I am from the UK and have 2 children. I left my wife a few months ago after being together just under 9 years.

I petitioned a divorce against my wife on grounds for unreasonable behaviour as for the last few years it hasn't been a nice for myself and I finally had enough strength to leave. The children have been great and have really responded to it well, which is pleasing to see as it was them that I held on for so long as I didn't want them to suffer because of my decision to leave.

Slowly working with solicitor who has been great for me so far, but today she dropped on me that living at my parents is damaging the finicial settlement and that I should move out into rented accomdation to ensure my outgoings are higher. This came as a shock to me as I didn't expect this. I have a resonable salary and working on a clean break agreement to ensure that everything is settled so I am not looking over my shoulder in the years to come.

My reason for posting is to see if people in a similar situation to myself in the UK who have been through the process of a divorce. What was your experince and any advice you would give to myself? I have no idea what to expect.
