We are having a tough time in our relationship at the moment. Communication has basically broken down and most conversations end up in petty arguments.

My wife does not compromise, does not get up with the toddler at night (even though I work full time and she only works two days a week), doesn't help around the house and is extremely messy, does not contribute to the mortgage, child care or other bills and is constantly critical of everything I do.

I am not perfect ethier but those are the main points of contention from my pov.

If I point out she is being rude or we just parent in different ways, she throws her toys out the pram. Threatens to leave and go to her parents.

I don't want a divorce, we had 10 years together as a happy couple before children.

I don't want her to just walk out with OUR kid in the middle of the night. I feel this is wrong and she doesn't have the right to do that, our daughter should not get tied up in our failure to work at our relationship. Especially as it is her who wants to leave.

Based in the UK, what rights and laws do I have to help me?
