How do I talk with my nieces and nephew, and be a positive male figure to them?

Yer cool. Just act normal towards all of them, but remember that they are children and not adults. You have to watch out for them to some extent. Don't let them kill themselves doing something stupid.

I'm in almost the exact same situation. Ive had success in inviting the boy to participate in what thr girls want me to do. If its barbies i invite him, if were just going upstairs to talk and play with the hamster pig thing i invite him. I've also made sure to ask him what he'd like to do especially after ive done what the girls wanted to do. I try to enforce taking turns and making sure he's a priority.

Ive also had trouble with being more strict with thr boy than the girls. I think its because when he acts out, it's usually in a physical way which i often responded to in a quicker and harsher manner. The girls on the other hand tend to play mind games with each other, and more often, with the boy; which i chastise but find it harder to be strict with. I think this is because strictness requires definite boundaries which are a bit difficult to define for mind games.

In either case if i pass judgement, i start with the instigator. I try to explain why it was wrong, and then i move on to the others involved if they responded badly. Typically, this happens as the result of mind games with the boy who resorts to violence to make them stop. I've started leaving when they play mind games or get physical, or REALLY mess with each other. It tends to put an end to whatever they were doing at least momentarily. If they ask what im doing ill tell them that i dont want to hang out with people who play mind games or pick on other people. If one of the siblings didn't participate i invite them to come with me and ask them what they'd like to do.
