Of course, male brains are predisposed to perform better in certain situations, but there are plenty of others where a female brain is more helpful. To answer the question posed in the title, male brains are not inherently able to perform better.

So then the answer is 'no'.

Where does this meme even come from? What reasonable person has claimed that men perform better overall? The claims maligned as misogyny have been about sex differences on average.

Although some of his wording was indeed unfortunate, especially in our political environment, the Google Memo actually tries to point to areas where the aptitude and predilections that are more prominent among women are and could be even more useful. Take the process of developing a successful social media app. Sure, more men may be good to translate ideas into code, but they first need good ideas - ideas well ensconced in a fine-grained understanding of social dynamics and translated with the precision needed for coders to know what to do. Surely, that would draw on a range of skills that are more pronounced in women?

In fact I find it bizarre that Google has not attracted more women. Good algorithms is only a small, albeit essential, part of their business. Perhaps someone can help me understand, as I know nothing about technology apart from its role in economic development.
