Check your state for a child support worksheet. In my child support worksheet i made 86% of our joint income so i contributed way more in supporting my children. My state then calculated 40% of my earnings minus child support to equal alimony.
I made more money, despite a college educated ex-spouse. I still had to support her.

I live in MA and yes alimony you pay counts as income for her. Here are the CS guidelines and worksheets. https://www.mass.gov/service-details/child-support-guidelines
