The best way to prevent false accusations is to understand the policies that allow them to flourish. In the edu world, that is Title IX. I urge all of you to become extremely familiar with the "Dear Colleagues" memos, as they mandate how Title IX is to be interpreted by all educational institutions that receive any federal funding. That's just about every public school and most secondary private schools that are non-profit too.

The most recent in the bunch rolls back the mandates laid out in the earlier memos significantly. That said, this does not mean that many institutions have changed their policies. In other words, there was no mandate, as far as I understand, for schools to roll back their procedures. The simply were released from the previous standards (preponderance of evidence, far-reaching protections for the accuser, etc.)
