If you had not heard, a so-called 'comedian' Luisa Omielan archived here recently set up an interview with British Conservative MP Philip Davies at the Houses of Parliament.

Immediately following the interview, Omielan gave an emotional account of what had happened which she posted on her Facebook and which has subsequently been picked up and gone viral (archived here on the aptly named Skwawkbox

She has also gone on to embellished the details given in the first account and one website reported that Davies actually got physical with Omielan,

including a shove described by fellow comedian Sue Perkins as ‘common assault’.

The utterly disgusting display of dishonesty in the video is loathsome to watch, but on the other hand it is an incredibly illuminating example of this, regardless of anyone's personal feelings toward Davies (I, for example, have never voted Conservative and until relatively recently was even a member of the Labour Party so I do not see this as a party-political issue as such, but something much worse).

So here is a transcript of the first two minutes or so of the video with my comments in-between.

Omielan: I'm shaking. I've just had the worst interview ever. I'm outside near the Houses of Parliament. I just met with a guy called Phillip Davies who is a Conservative MP who said he was willing to talk to me. And so we met. He was 10 minutes late; 15 minutes late.

By the standards of the average MP's schedule, being 'just' 10-15 minutes late is practically being early. But it's easy to see what Omielan is trying to imply - that he is someone who is too busy to care for 'the people' and only in politics to line his own pockets.

Omelian is an unknown in politics - why on Earth would she believe she has a right to his time when she is not a constituent of his?

They then meet:

Omielan: And I said [to Davies], 'I don't know anything about politics. I'm naive to politics. I don't know anything about it.'

This is a barefaced lie, as will become apparent.

The programme which Omelian was making the interview for is an upcoming BBC series called Politics for Bitches, a 4-part series which the producers describe as:

part documentary and part comedy gig, each week Luisa will tackle a different political topic, breaking it down for the audience. For example: [...] Female leaders - why aren't more women allowed to lead?

So straight away, Omelian is lying here.

Omielan: And he said 'OK, so what do you wanna know about it?.

And he's from Yorkshire, and I said 'Oh, you're from Yorkshire? You're a Northerner?' I said 'So why are you in the Conservative party? 'Cos they seem quite distant and cold and Yorkshire is famous for being, you know, friendly and all-inclusive and whatever'. And then he kind of got his back up about that.

So her opening gambit is to insult him, telling he cannot be both a Conservative and from Yorkshire at the same time and besides that she has arrogantly stated that he must therefore be "quite distant and cold" to be a Conservative and he cannot be "friendly and all-inclusive and whatever"

And she is surprised that "he kind of got his back up about that"?

Either she expects us to believe that she really is this stupid or else she is a blatant liar. I'm hedging my bets, but I think outright liar is the more likely.

Omielan: And I didn't understand.

Playing the innocent victim card - this is utter bullshit. You don't insult someone in the first few minutes of meeting them and then try to claim you don't understand why they might be upset.

Omielan: And he said 'Oh, what's your problem with things?'. And I said 'Well, the state of the country seems quite divided at the moment, like homelessness has gone up, the NHS has been cut. Um, I don't understand why that's happening. Like, there seems to be a divide with Brexit and things, right?'

He said (Do you know I'm shaking?) So he said - So his mic stopped working and Philip Davies this is, he said, um, 'I'm not doing this interview. You're just a leftist. a Corbynist agenda, hidden agenda.'

Davies is basically in the right here - even by Omielan's own account, he has twice offered to answer her questions but instead of actually asking him any questions she has tried to insult him mockingly by suggesting he must be cold, distant and by implication heartless and uncaring.

He has taken time out of a busy schedule to basically be ambushed by someone who - whether in fact they are a Corbynista or not - is clearly out to make him look stupid on camera and now that the game is up so quickly why would he have any reason to play along?

Omielan: I said, 'What are you talking about? No, I'm not!'. He goes, 'Yes, you have. You've got a bloody Leftist, Corbynist agenda. I'm not doing this interview. You don't know what you're taking about, cuts.'

And I said, 'What are you talking about? I do know about cuts. Like, I do know. I've seen there's been cuts. The NHS has been cut.' And he's like 'Where's your facts? Where's your facts?' You know, 'Turn off the camera! Turn off the camera!'

So having begun the interview - again by her own account - stating that 'I don't know anything about politics. I'm naive to politics. I don't know anything about it.' she now, apparently does - meaning clearly that she was lying from the beginning.

It gets worse.

Omielan: I said, 'Hang on! Why are you being so defensive? I've come here to talk to you to find out information.

This is a blatant lie - but notice how she is now trying to play the victim card again now that she sees her plan to ambush him has failed almost from the beginning. She now claims to be just 'innocently' asking for 'information' but this is utter bullshit.

She played her ambush hand too early and too badly and now she's struggling to get the footage she needs for her shitty fucking series.

Omielan: [Davies says:] 'What facts? You should come in with facts today. Saying you don't know anything about politics, but you do know enough about politics to come in'

'I said 'Hang on! I've come in. I don't know anything about politics. What I'm saying is about the state of the country as I see it.

Literally moments before she has said to him 'What are you talking about? I do know about cuts. Like, I do know. I've seen there's been cuts. The NHS has been cut' and now she is reversing that completely.

I believe this is known as gas-lighting - a common tactic employed by abusive people.

Omielan: He says, 'You're a Leftist Corbynist agenda for the BBC. I'm gonna call Lord Hall, or whoever. And if this is what the BBC is doing then they can -

And I said, 'You're, you're an MP - Why are you behaving like this? Like, you can't even talk to me?'

Playing the victim card to the hilt there.

She starts crying shortly after this.

Omielan: And he said, 'What do you know about cuts?' And then that made me upset. And I started like getting tears in my eyes. I said, 'My mum died in the hands of the NHS because I saw how she was treated.'

The interview is going poorly for her because she evidently expected to be able to dupe him and evidently expected him to be so stupid and dimwitted as to not notice the ambush style of interview, so she is evidently moving to plan 'B' which is:

  • cry and sob
  • accuse Davies (indirectly) of being responsible for 'killing' her mother because her mother died in the care of state-funded hosptital

Omielan: And HE was on his computer, 'I'll find out the numbers for you. I'm sorry to hear that, that's awful. Let me find out the numbers for you, that's awful.'

Note that Davies commiserates with her on her mother's death. Now note that this simple act of decency - produced by both her tears and sobs and by the story of her mother's death - is then immediately exploited by her to turn on Davies aggressively:

Omielan:I said, 'Oh, no! You do NOT get to do that! You don't get to apologise for my mother's death, whilst your looking at the computer for numbers to prove yourself right. You either talk to me as a human - human to human - and someone she's lost her mother, she's died, irrelative of politics. You show some respect for that!'

What an absolute cunt!

This is literally what abusers do - she has first invoked her dead mother for sympathy and thrown in a few tears just to make sure the point is underlined, he has then backed down as any decent person would, and this utter lying fucking cunt uses this as a way to strike at him while he' being apologetic and be aggressive and hostile with him.

Omielan: And he says, 'You're a rude - you come in here rude with your agenda for the BBC'. I said 'I've got. no. agenda for the BBC.

Liar - "Politics For Bitches, a new topical series for BBC Three ... will tackle a different political topic, breaking it down for the audience."

Omielan: I want to ask why the [edited clip here] And you won't answer me.

Victim card.

Omielan: [Davies says:] 'Gimme the camera! Gimme the camera thingy' and I said 'No'. I said 'I'm not giving you the camera'. He said, 'gimme the camera! gimme the film camera'.

What happens next is particularly interesting:

Omielan: So ... I stole the camera out of the director's hands and I ran out the building with it; ran out the building with it. I accidentally hit the girl on the way out, which I'm really sorry for, I hit her with the camera. I just knocked her on the side. And I ran out.

According to Omelian's own account it was her that hit a female aide in Parliament as she ran out of the building. However, weirdly, having just said that "I stole the camera out of the director's hands and I ran out the building with it", in the next part she's then going to explain that she was "blocked in" the room by Davies and not allowed to leave (she alleges, anyway).

Note that this has also later somehow been morphed into an accusation against Davies for assault against Omelian, whereas by her own admission it seems to have been only Omelian that got physical with anyone - and striking a female employee at that.

But it's OK though remember - she said "I'm really sorry" so, you know, that's fine. It's never common assault when you say your weawwy sowwy after you've done a naughty thing / S

Omielan: And then [Davies] held the door in front of me. He wouldn't let me thr- open the door. Like, he wouldn't let me open the door. So he closed the door on me. So I couldn't get out. And I was like, 'Get out the fucking way, you dickhead!' And I shouldn't have called him a dickhead, but he blocked me in, like he blocked me in his office.

Intimating that Davies is a closet rapist and physical or sexual abuser of women.

Naturally, the waterworks are nicely timed to come on at this point.

Omielan: And then he was like, 'Are you from the BBC? This is for the BBC? And I said, 'This is for Luisa Omielan. FUCK. OFF!' and I ran out the Fire Exit.

The idea that the programme the BBC is paying for - which is to say I and other licence fee payers are paying for - turns out not to be for us, the viewers, but to fulfil Luisa Omielan's narcissistic fantasies is hardly a surprise at this point.

But it is ironic that this is the one honest thing she does actually say.

Omielan: So this is Philip Davies. And MP. Who's just ... called me names; made me feel this [uses finger and thumb gesture] big.

And this, of course, is clearly what Omielan and her producers were after all along. The conclusion and likely the script had already been reached and written up.

All they needed was a manufactured incident to confirm their biases.

She sobs and gasps and weeps at this point - I mean, after all, the job's been done right?
