Ehhh, she made up a remarkably stupid story for a remarkably stupid reason and then took it WAY too far because she was too much of a coward to come clean. As far as I can tell, no specific men were named or accused and no men were arrested and held by police as a result (correct me if I'm wrong).

It sounds like she wasted a bunch of public resources and police time that could have been better spent elsewhere and caused a media fuss that everyone could have done without, but no individual was really hurt except her own dumb self. I don't think prison time would be appropriate. A nice, long stretch of community service would seem about right to me. Requiring that it be performed exclusively in poor, majority black neighborhoods would be a nice touch though.

Liberal rags like TheRoot will milk it for the sake of racial point-scoring just like their mirror image alt-right kids milked it for the same reason when the tale first emerged.

She should have gotten 3-6months for a "crying wolf" or a major fine.
