Quick question to those of you in the know.
If I'm having a conversation with someone who is very pacifist or anti-war, what is the best way to point out how the powers that be leverage jingoism and "manliness" to convince young men to enlist in the armed services and put themselves in harm's way?
We are made to salute them as heroes in life and celebrate them like saints in death.
Is there a particular author or article that I can point them towards?
I feel like as time goes by, I find myself rubbing shoulders with pacifist types and I become more pacifist myself. I would like to be able to help more people understand the connection between the pacifist cause and the men's rights movement.
I know that there are many left-leaning folks out there who absolutely despise us because they've been taught that we are "patriarchial" or "hateful", but when you think about it, anyone who opposes the the "war machine" ought to naturally be our allies, or so I would think.
I'm sorry if that wasn't clear. I'm struggling to clearly articulate my thoughts here.
