'The Untold History of Universal Suffrage in the UK' | Rick Bradford debunks the Suffragette Myth

This is a good summary of the history of suffrage in the UK and the bloodshed of thousands of men that is forgotten about in favour of remembering the idiotic death of one suffragette. I think suffragette acts of terrorism - at a time when working class men couldn't vote - would have been worth mentioning.

I like his term, "The Big Snag", referring to the fact that giving women the vote on the same terms as the minority of men who could vote - which is what the upper middle class suffragettes wanted - would have enfranchised upper middle class women, who were more likely to vote Conservative. Political suicide for the liberal politicians who supported the cause the most and a dichotomy, he correctly points out, that could only realistically be solved via the extension of male suffrage at the same time as extending to women.

Really interesting and informative talk, thanks for posting.
