I have been lurking on this sub for quite a while now. Started as a sort of morbid curiosity, a voyeuristic journey into the deep underbelly of misogyny, but I soon realized just how much I had been misled. I often discuss posts and ideas from here with my SO. She identifies as a feminist (although very few of her beliefs are in line with radical or even mainstream feminist ideology) and because so many men's rights issues are produced or contributed to by feminism the conversation can often get heated.
What I have noticed is that many times the issue becomes buried in critiques of feminism. Criticism is often viewed as a personal attack. One of the biggest obstacles to the success of the men's rights movement is, IMO, is that we can't get people to hear what we are saying and beyond that actually listen.
I believe that if we pay closer attention to the language used in order to put the focus on the issues and the actual policy that we are working for/ against, without placing the blame with feminism explicitly, we might have better success reaching out and gaining sympathy for the cause.
Give me some feedback on what you think about this. What can we do to address the needs of men honestly without alienating those who may wish to help?
