I declined to attend and support the youth camps the following two summers, and am considering never working with the institute again, despite the fact that the girl has moved on and the Major Director is retiring soon, and others responsible for the youth camps are asking me to come back.
The woman in question still has social ties to people in the program, lives close by and is legitimately traumatized by her mistake.
Her first mistake was to try to convince me to be with her by using her body to seduce me. I kept having sex with her, and telling her that I didn't want a relationship. Edit: redacted description of my behavior; suffice it to say that when we were hookup partners I did not treat her like a proper lady. Yet, she kept coming back for more....
Finally, her big mistake was to invite me to the beach, to the bar, and then back to her room, pour shots, and then try to honor this promise to herself that she wasn't going to have sex with me. In her head, she says, she was thinking that she didn't want to do it. In real life, after a few moments of being cold and distant, her body vigorously kissed me back and participated in the sex act. Only the first time was traumatizing for her, of course, because that's when she broke the promise to herself. The following two times we had sex that night were all good, she said.
I didn't call or text. I chose another girl over her to be with. She was devastated, traumatized. Seriously. When she heard I was planning on bringing my new GF to the programs, she went on a story-telling tour and got me banned from the programs for a summer. The Director of the program implicated that she might file charges against me. Fuck!
So I stopped going for the last couple years. My mom has been trying to convince me to support the programs again. That community, institute, and land has been a major part of my life since I was born (and I'm 35 now), and I think I could provide some meaningful support to the kids there.
But the staff is mostly all female. I don't think the people who got her side of the story believe her completely, but I'm sure it's put doubt in their minds. More important than that, I honestly don't want to further traumatize this girl by showing back up in her home town. And I definitely don't want that trauma to result in her going on another story-telling tour or worse.
I'm thinking to just leave the whole community behind. Your thoughts gentlemen?
