Trial of Woman Who Killed Her Husband Highlights Domestic Abuse in Turkey. I found this article today and was reminded again of this sub. Another reason why we as women shouldn’t be financially dependent on a man- it puts us in a position to be taken advantage of.

there actually seems to be a correlation between conservative values in an area and the amount of domestic abuse. places where it’s common for women to stay home and take care of children while their husbands are the breadwinners tend to have higher instances of abuse.

That's why I don't like stay at home moms. In the majority of cases it leads to financial abuse. And if you want to get away from him, you are stuck. No work experience, no money, no skills to get out. Being a stay at home mom is a scam

yeah unfortunately i think it is one of the types of situations that really requires a hvm to work well. a lvm or nvm would easily take advantage of a woman who is dependent on him.

I'm from Turkey and left the country because of abusive men and I knew I can't raise a family in that country.

The problem with the society is, especially at the east of Turkey, women are brainwashed from a young age that they should serve men. Men are brainwashed that women should serve them and do everything they want with them. They are not allowed to go to school or get any education because one they do, they would realise that this behaviour and "lifestyle" is not normal, they would get a job, be financially secure on their own. This is why teachers gets killed in the east and girls/women live under threats. It's a trap the women were put when they are babies. And now, it's literally legal to do anything women in Turkey (abuse, tape, murder). This is done by Muslim men, by the way.

It's really a sad situation, and unfortunately it happens in other countries as well, like India.

I am happy to hear that she survived the abuse and crushed to hear what happened to her. She should be free because that was self defense but this is Turkey.

This is so sad. What was she supposed to do? Let her husband murder her and her children? She had to defend herself. I can't believe there are people who look at this poor battered woman and try to blame her for the horrific abuse she suffered.

exactly! he even had her handcuffed, and people are still saying she should’ve called the police. talk about grasping at anything
